Description

The listing, TWO Sony Playstation 3 PS3 Controllers - READ DESCRIPTION, PLEASE! has ended.

I want to put big emphasis on a few facts concerning these controllers:

1.) They were given to me by a friend of many years who assured me that they work. Apparently someone broke into his Son's houseboat a while back, stole the Son's PS3, TV, and other electronics - but apparently left these behind. I do not own a PS3.

2.) If you move the little toggle thingy into the position shown in the photos - it will stay there if you do not move it back. They spring back to center from all other positions. I have replaced these toggles before on PS2 system controllers, and assume the same can be done for the PS3 controllers. However, do your research if this concerns you. When I pointed this issue out to my friend he again assured me that they worked fine exactly as they are - but I want to have no secrets here. He has no reason whatsoever to blow smoke up my hiney (like I said - he GAVE them to me!), and I have no reason to do so to anyone else. They will be shipped appropriately in a box, and shipping in the USA is free.

3.) These have been in a box in my closet for AT LEAST the past year. I pulled them out last week (hunting for Listia stuff!) and decided to see what could be done with them. I found that the USB charging cable for my Daughter's MP4 player fit them perfectly. When plugged in, the red lights on the front flashed constantly until they were apparently charged, then the flashing stopped. Once removed from the USB line, pushing the center clear plastic button with the embedded PlayStation emblem causes the lights to go off again, flashing non-stop for approximately 55 seconds before stopping. I assume this means they are trying to connect to a console. I have waited a full week, and they are holding the charge without a hitch - so I have decided to go forward and pass them on to someone who may need them.

Full disclosure complete: ALL QUESTIONS WELCOME!

Thanks for looking, and Good Luck in all your Listian endeavors!

I have no idea why Sony puts Dualshock 3 on some controllers and Sixaxis on the others.... they are both the exact same thing lol....... however thanks for all the honesty in your auction..... Fanned and Watching :)

You are quite welcome - and Thank You for the info.

I did notice that the Dualshock 3 weighs a little more than the Sixaxis. When I first started paying attention to these, I wondered if there were batteries missing from the Sixaxis because of the difference in weight. (Yes, I am actually THAT dumb when it comes to the PS3, lol - we went from PS2 to Wii.) However, they both charged up the same - so there must be a battery in both!

Well - don't fight too hard for them. People have to keep in mind that I have not actually seen these work. If the four flashing lights mean for sure that they work - then by all means eat yourselves alive, lol. But if that is NOT definitive proof that they work than I - if I were bidding - would keep my bid at no higher than 80% of what I would be willing to pay for one that a seller could say works definitively. I was TOLD these work. And though it was by a very good friend of mine - he is not exactly what I would call a technical kind of guy. I'm into music and computers. He's into air boats and coon dogs... (My family and I visited him and his family this past Christmas, and he had two air boats in the front yard that were COVERED with Christmas lights, lol.)

But I digress. I'm not trying to shoot my listing in the foot. But I would much rather see someone get them for cheap and have them work, than someone pay a whole bunch for them and have them NOT work. That would just suck, and I would rather it not happen....

Just made it in Photoshop and printed it out. As a matter of fact, I made a much nicer one earlier today with a musical theme that I will be using in my next batch of photos, lol.

Give me a few minutes and I will add it as a photo to this listing.

@Shadowsaix if you knew anything about this you would know that the sixaxis controllers was the 1st set of controllers that came with the ps3 when it came out. later they added the dualshock to the controllers which lead to them being dualshock 3's... gotta know your gaming history son lol....

yall's comments regarding these controllers are funny... yes the dualshock weighs more cuz it has the rumble pieces in each side which would cause them to weigh more. if anybody needs further info regarding anything ps3 related plz feel free to send me a msg and i will be more than happy to help out

UPDATE 2: I just finished update 1 and went to get the controllers to take them over and shut them off at the console, but both have already went off on their own after unplugging them from the computer, 10-15 minutes ago.

Yes. I am a confessed PS3 moron....

UPDATE: I was able to verify today that these controllers DO, in fact, work. My neighbor's grandchildren are visiting and brought their PS3 along. Plugged them each into the front USB port, hit the clear PlayStation button, and - POOF! Both fired right up. I was able to verify that both sticking toggles also work fine. I quickly brought them back home to get some updated photos - thinking they would go off in a minute or two - and they wouldn't go off. So I thought I should plug them back into the computer to see if that would allow me to regain control of them. It didn't work - but Windows 7 (x64) quickly installed drivers for them and told me they were ready to use as an input device, lol. (When they are plugged in to the computer they retain the same controller # assignment on the front - but the light flashes when they are connected...which may denote charging?)

After reading up on where I went wrong, I'm going to take them back over and shut them down at the console.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I lucked up and managed to verify firsthand that these controllers work as well as I could have hoped for. Now bid each other to the death!!

Lol.

so do both controllers have the problem or just one?

The Dualshock 3 has the issue on the right toggle, and the Sisaxis has the issue on the left toggle.
