Description

The listing, Vintage Doll has ended.

This is a vintage doll that I purchased at an estate sale. She is definitely an older doll, but I am not sure how old or what make. She is plastic with eyes that sleep. She is wearing a crocheted dress and shorts with a net slip and has painted on shoes. I do not know if these are her original clothes. She is in good condition, but has some issues related to her age. Her hair is not as well coiffed as it once was and her dress shows a bit of yellowing. Her net slip is rather yellow and worn. She is 8 1/2 inches high and her head, arms and legs are jointed. That being said she is a pretty little doll. Any questions please contact me.

My aunt use to make these dolls. The clothes are made from dish cloths . When you want to change her dress you just get another dish cloth and use the one she was wearing to wash dishes.. The little dolls came from Roses Dept. store or Woolworth's ..She made one to cover a roll of toilet paper .She made another kind with a longer dress, just for the bed.. They are old.

Thanks for looking and thanks for the interesting information. I still miss Woolworths, I used to shop there all the time and eat at the lunch counter.

Me too, that's why I wash dishes by hand and use my great aunts' embroidered towels to dry them.

I also have those crochet scarves you put on an end table or on top of the floor model TV's. I will always love them. My grandma and my aunt would starch them and shape them so pretty. I know you remember those. I wish I could knit and crochet.

I have the pattern for the crochet dress in a pattern book from 1947 So it is at least that old! Thereis also a pattern for a bed doll dress,a soap piece holder and toilet paper cover. I miss the Woolworth's lunch counter too! That was a HUGE treat!!

I just taught myself to crochet and I have some old patterns. They are on my to do list when I finish my afghan. Thank you for the info, I thought she might be about that old because I have other dolls from the 40's and she is similar to them.

Thanks for offering help, I will definitely keep that in mind. It would be great to have someone with your experience sitting next to me when I need guidance. I guess after around 50 or 60 years we would all get a little bed head, but she doesn't look too bad for an old broad.

I just went to an estate sale in Va Bch and there were three of these there. BTW, this one is in much better shape then they were; which is why I didn't buy them ! I miss the old WoolWorth stores as well :-(
