I am sorry that I got the descriptions wrong, I did get some pretty serious news and my mind was elsewhere. The postcards date back to early 1940's and are very colorful in good condition. The boat reminds me of the old wooden "Crisscraft" Models that we saw being built in the now defunct "Crisscraft" boats many years ago in St. Clair, Michigan. They had outboard motors and were fast. My dad always dreamed of owning one, but they were very expensive. Again, I apologize for misspelling some things.

The news couldn't get a whole lot worse, my brother has an aggressive form of cancer. Anyway, your note made me smile, some notes I read on some of these were love notes to my mom (who passed away years ago) from my dad who was overseas and I would not part with them for the world. I am enclosing a rather cute black and white postcard as a bonus with these.I hope whoever wins them, will enjoy them.

Pretty bad, my brother has been diagnosed with a pretty bad type of cancer and it is not curable. It's so hard to deal with sometimes, so if you pray, remember him in your prayers. Thanks. The postcards are such a neat piece of history. They were printed before I was born around 1940 and I have a bunch of them, but these are the only ones I feel that I can part with.

I'm sorry, you are right, my husband just had surgery and my brother is very ill, my mind is not always where it should be these days. Thank you for pointing that out. Dad was in both areas during the war.

It is possible (looks that way to me and I'm a Scot) that the flowers on the two Scottish cards are the traditional emblem flowers associated with the two clans named on the cards Bruce and Macfarlane, a sprig of such a plant was often worn on the traditional blue bonnet when the clan went to war. So probably another selling point for you...

Bruce is printed on the left loer side of the plaid with the flowers to yhe right. Greetings from Fort William on the right lower right-hand corner. The picture itslef, says "The Rope Bridge, Glen Nevis". On the back, no handwritten message, but printed in the center it says "This is a colourtype Card Foreign Printing." The other post card has "MacFarlane." Lower left corner, next to floers, over the plaid and "Greetings from Fort William" on the lower right-hand corner.Dad had a hat that had ribbons on it from there as a souvenie, but it has long since disappeared. This card says "The Falls, Glen Nevis, Fort William. I have several more, but these were the only duplicates I had and would be willing to part with. Thank you so much for your input on these, it is so nice when we listians can be of assistsance to one-another. Oh, by the way, the New York post card with the boat on it, as here he mustered out and I as born 3 days later in Manhattan. My parents ere married in1941 and were separated dduring the war for over 3 years. Mom always says she felt so blessed that Dad returned hen so many didn't.

Now if they really had been 1040's postcards what would it have said on the back? Dear Dad, getting sick of Normandy, contemplating invading England in about 16 years, love William... ;-)

There are no hand-written notes on these but they would have said something to the effect, I am here in Ireland, just left Scotland and if it hadn't been censored, on to Africa. The ride on the deck of the Queen Mary coming over, was rough. I made it fine but the green fella next to me kept hanging over the side tossing his cookies. Well, back to writing my wife and hoping to hear from you soon, Love, Your Son, Frank.

Hold on a minute, these post cards were from my dad 3-4 years before I was born in1945, so that would be close to 70 years.

Anyway, not sure you got my joke, '1040' +26 years would have been 1066, my message was from William the Conquerer. No matter, just me being silly. Sorry to hear about your family right now. One of my family is also in hospital right now, just came out of ICU it was pretty touch and go for almost a month, she's elderly but seems to be through the worst of it. Still some issues though. It's a big ordeal I know, I've taken the brunt of the hard work trying to keep it all together, and that's left me rundown, exhausted and sick. Best wishes for you and yours.

Yup, I got your joke, I realized that I had hit the rong key after if was submitted and it wouldn't let me edit it, which sometimes happens with computers and arthritic fingers. Oh well, hope all goes ell with your family, too. We have to be silly sometimes to get past the not so good stuff. You have a good day and thanks for everything.

Thank you, I know there's always hope and the power of love and prayer are both very strong fighters against these things. I do love my brother and appreciate all the well-wishes and prayers all my fellow (AND GIRL) listians have offered me. I feel as if I have acquired a whole, new, wonderful family. I am very happy for your boyfriend.

This is really cool to see!! In or around I think 1950 my father was on a postcard for Chris Craft and also in a well known magazine. I have the postcard in storage right now until I get moved. A great keepsake!! I believe he worked for Carver, a southern California Boat business way back then. Wonderful Auction, and wish you luck!!

My dad would stand and drool over those cool inboard engines and there was a big amusement park on a lake that we could pay $3 for a ride around the lake.
