This is called a thread charm or Arachnias charm or even the Witches dream catcher. Made from the results of the simple act of sewing.

And as you can see, I have gone and gotten dangerous again, with sharp things like needles and the sewing machine :)

How you use it, is you hang it over your door, or from the ceiling, in your car, anywhere you like, to trap ill intent in its tangled threads, before they can enter the house, car, etc.

This is what I do with any small glass bottle in my house, that has outlived its former usefulness, meaning the lid has stopped sealing, or in this case the lid up and took a hike ( there is a cork seal in it now ).... when that happens, the bottle becomes part of my sewing box

Once there, each snip of thread, string, etc, too short to use, in the bottle it goes, with a short spell spoken for each thread put inside.
