Whenever we ship to another country, we have to fill out a customs form where there is a space for the actual value of the item being shipped. The country the receiver lives in uses that information to determine how much they need to charge the person receiving the item in taxes, duties, or customs fees. Some countries do this some don't, some charge for items over a certain amount, or for some items and not others, etc. it is different for each country. Its basically taxes. I have to put the value of the item or something reasonable - for one because the US post office doesn't always accept the international form if there is a big 0 there, also because some countries will charge the highest tax if there is a 0 in that space. Or, sometimes the package is rejected by the customs office and sent back, then I have to pay money to get it back. Some people have asked me to be dishonest about the value of the item I am sending, so that is why I put that i will not lie on a customs form. Phew. Anyway, I think you are in Canada (?) so then you're all good, Canada doesn't seem to worry about the small stuff I think it's only of you are buying something really expensive like a boat or something lol
