Description

The listing, AFRICAN BLUE LEMON BASIL PLANT! has ended.

African Blue Lemon Basil is a rare plant that does not produce seed of it's own. Propagation by cuttings only. Very attractive basil that makes wonderful pesto, great in soup, salads, chicken, fish and red meats. Cross between East African basil and Dark Opal basil. Can grow from 4-6 ft in height. It is becoming a very high demand basil! Increasing in demand, this year tops sales on this plant and I believe next year will be even more so as more people become aware of this absolutely beautiful plant! Leaves on top are green and underneath are purple. Pretty sure it has medical value but haven't done a lot of research on this yet.
This auction is for one small rooted cutting. This will be the only auction for this basil unless their is a high interest in this otherwise it will be sold on other sites.
Outside of USA, winners will have to pay postage.

I keep it in pots then in fall bring it in and start new cuttings so you will have new ones.

With high heat, I would guess that you might need to provide some shade but it is listed as a plant that needs full sun but can tolerate some shade. Also will need more moisture than other basil. Probably a quick research for your area would be the best way to go.

It has a very complex but incredibly wonderful taste. I ate a couple of leaves and I do not believe I tasted any lemon. The taste was....going to get another one right now...when I am not breathing in as I bite the leaf, I taste no lemon but it is a slight critusy flavor with the basil/clove overtones. Not sure how else to describe this.
