The hips are maybe an inch wider then the waist...but not very much. The fabric does stretch a bit, and yes my home is smoke free :)

Waist is really about the same as hips area. It does stretch some, and yes we are a smoke free, but not pet free home.
We have a small dog, but she is not allowed near my lista items :~)
