Questions & Comments
how can you figure that they will automatically add a data plan on to your contract i dont think you know what your talking about because i have the same phone and it hasnt ever done anything like that even the iphone wouldnt do that for one att wouldnt kno what kind of phone you have by just having your simcard inserted just saying
I am not in the mood for needless drama. I know exactly what I am talking about. If you do not have a data package at all attached to your service; once you insert the phone and power cycle it back on it will ask you to set up your blackberry account/e-mail preferences. Once done, AT&T becomes aware of the transition and automatically assigns you the lowest priced data package. ( It did this to my Friend who tested it for me). He didn't like the fact that he had to have data package ( Considering it IS a SMARTPHONE) so he gave it back to me and I did a reset on it and he had to have the data plan removed once he went back to his Razr.
Yes, an iPhone does the same thing. Once you insert your sim into the phone and connect it to iTunes ( Which, you have to do in order to program/sync your device to the network) It will make you choose from a list of data services. I recently sold my iPhone 4s.
I think I would know exactly what I am talking about. Don't believe me, call AT&T themselves if you don't think I have any clue.
Another thing.. Once the Sim Card is inserted in a new/used device it syncs with that phones IMEI/SEID number... which in and of itself is a serial code for the device you are now using. Yes, AT&T WILL KNOW what phone you have got. For further inquiries call 1 800 288 2020 like I did.
lostriver - I am not sure about the 3g. I never had 3g when I had it, so I cannot give you a definitive answer.
Vaughnmcintire - Yes, this device takes an AT&T Sim. If you currently have one you can place it in the phone and start using ( Tested with friends att sim ) .. However, once you place it in the Blackberry, if you do not already have a data package, you will automatically be subscribed to one.. so do not freak when you have an increase on bill.
