Chives are very maintenance free once you plant them and water until established. They will come back every year, early in the spring. Then they will flower with pretty round Purple flowers. Most of the flowers on mine have already dried and are producing seed. We are still enjoying the Chives, and will be able to eat them all summer.

Chives may also be planted indoors in a window sill garden for quick access when cooking.

Chives are great in many dishes including Salsa, Scrambled eggs, Potato salad, Chicken salad, and Casseroles. I love them on top of Sour Cream on a baked potato.

It seems faster to cut them up with kitchen shears instead of a knife. Sprinkle on top of the dish just before serving.
