The listing, Vintage LEAF STERLING German IRON CROSS Occult Charm Pendant Wiccan Pagan Rune Talisman Religion has ended.
The Iron Cross is a cross symbol typically in black with a white or silver outline that originated after 1219 when the Kingdom of Jerusalem granted the Teutonic Order the right to combine the Teutonic Black Cross placed above a silver Cross of Jerusalem. This is from an old necklace bought at an estate auction recently. The chain was beyond repair, but I felt the charm itself still had many nostalgic qualities. (And no I'm not going to include the chain. Has already been tapped for another project.) Is of 'LEAF STERLING' metal (whatever that is - a type of Sterling, perhaps?) and shows some patina and wear from age and use. The oxidation inside the arms is gone, but can be reintroduced. The Iron Cross was normally a military decoration only, though there were instances of it being awarded to civilians for performing military functions. The Iron Cross was used as the symbol of the German Army from 1871 to March/April 1918, when it was replaced. It has also been a sacred symbol of protection and power since ancient times. As a pagan symbol, it is a cross symbolizing the Earth and is considered a sacred symbol to the mother goddess. As a symbol of protection it is formed of 2 crossed labrys' or double headed axes; symbolizing active, aggressive protection - "Harm the wearer at your peril". During the First World War, it appeared on German fighter planes and tanks. Later, it became a fascist symbol in France, Portugal and other nations. It's sometimes compared with a Swastika. This piece is sure to serve as a focus of power for anyone with a Nordic or Gerrmanic heritage or calling, or those interested in paranormal meanings. FREE shipping, of course.
