Description

The listing, $5.00 Bill from the Presidents Bank in Washington D.C. has ended.

Here we have a $5.00 Bill from 1852 drawn on the Presidents Bank in Washington D.C. As you will see on the note this is a period issue COPY of the original. This item is for the collector of Currency and once again is only a period issued Copy. Because of the rarity of an original this period issued copy makes a fine addition to any collection. With originals selling in the thousands of dollars this is an inexspensive way to own a piece of history without breaking the bank. This also makes a great gift for the collector you know. Happy Bidding.

most obsolete notes in good condition you can get for around $40, very few get over $100 and to be in the thousand range it would have to have a rarity rating of 1 (less then 5 available) just my 2 cents :)

if I had an e-mail address I would send you a link where it states that there a know estimated original mintage of this particular bill of less the 20. And an auction sale price of 2,600.00 dollars for a single original. Evidentally the bank received a sample minting of 20 bills 100.00 worth. Then on delivery of the following shipment of 7500 new ordered bills the stagecoach bringing them was robbed and the thieves tried blowing up the safe aboard and burned all bills inside. Thus the high sale price and the copies being made at the time. A second order was never placed until the following year. If you notice there is a hand written bill number in the top right hand side of the bill. Because of the history of the bill an original commands a very high price. I would be more than willing to share the lint with you. Just my 2 cents

Just post it here, but here is a link showing that the $1 $2 and $5 seen here original not copy last sold for $373 in uncirculated condition at heritage auctions (world famous action house for currency) I'd love to see where people are paying more for this note :)

By no means am I trying to imply this item is worth thousands let alone hundreds. It is a period copy made only because there are so few of these in circulation. If you would like an inexspensive way to add a note to your collection this is the way to go. It is the same as collector's who collect 100 mill gold and silver bars and rounds. They are collected for their beauty not their worth.
