Description

The listing, HOT STUFF!! Total of 31 - First Day of Issue - 22K Gold Foil Replica Stamps - U.S. Presidents Series has ended.

SPECIAL AUCTION!! Get your credits in order!!

This is an almost complete set of the U.S. Presidents Series, First Day of Issue covers, with the 22K gold foil replica stamps. All from 1986...all 22¢ stamps. It's missing 5 of the full set of 36. It includes the one for the White House. The ones that are missing is: Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Franklin Roosevelt, and John Kennedy.

The most current catalog I have lists these at a value of $1.50 each. My catalog is almost 2 years old, so they may have increased a bit. So....what you'll be getting is worth a minimum of $46.50. If you were to add the 5 missing, to make it a complete set, the value would be even more.

These are all in EXCELLENT condition! OUTSTANDING Collection!!!!

Hmmmmmm...makes me question whether I should have listed them. Have I done a dumb-butted thing? Oh well!

I don't think you have done a dumb-butted thing!!..I know you have the complete set, so, it gives you an idea of how high in demand these wonderful covers are!! Hopefully some day...I will have as many as you do!!LOL

I recently counted the "goldies" for the first time. I had a good idea of how many, but never an exact count. I have 2,741, NOT counting these. That may sound like a lot, but, in reality, it's only a drop in the proverbial bucket.

Always like to find things someone wants for nothing. I will take them up just for the fun of taking them up. I used to be a stamp mogul on Listia. Now I'm a credit mogul:). But I do check the polls and I have engaged this bidder before. Finally just let her have it at what I thought was a decent price. I just can't figure out where her war chest comes from.

Aaaah, yes......the science of bidding! It's a most intersting thing!

I was just thinking....dangerous, I know.....but, if I listed these one at a time, each one would bring 100 to 300, MINIMUM. I seriously doubt this would bring that price X 31....just being realistic. However, if someone wanted to relist these one at a time, they would sure make a fat profit. I just don't want to dawdle around, so I slammed them all up together.

I see greater value in the near complete collection itself. If Mike is right you'll be offering them as well sooner or later. But I think you've probably listed all you have of these. More than 2000 gold stamp covers. WOW. Well I have noticed that you sell quite a bit at decent prices (I try to insure that actually) and I only see you sporadically at the buying table so your war chest must be much much larger than mine. I've only been around here for less than a year. Anyway I think I want these here envelopes.

It's like I've mentioned to you in the past........if you pass on a lot of the so-so stuff, you then have a pile of credits to use for the really GOOD stuff.

What it boils down to is acquiring a credit cow like Billy boy gates has his cash cow Windows copy righted for 50 years. Locals around the world can offer their pocket change and I usually bid on that or a particular product from their area. The lighter it weighs the better. Mike has a good one. I still have tons of stamps and am getting ready to list a major amount of US stuff. Old new and in between with duplicates in good place that will give the winner a large stock enabling him/her to go into business on Listia with them.

VELLY Interesting.......are you saying there's going to be lots & lots of U.S. plate blocks coming up? If so....Oh boy, Oh boy, Oh boy! Maybe I can fill some empty slots! Looks like the credits will be flowing in YOUR direction!

Ah so that is your main game. I should have put that together when you offered that plate block album in favor of your own creation. I have a lot of plate blocks as well but no order to them and most are after 1960. I do have a few 1940's but what I have in mind is more for the beginning collector or seller who needs a large large stock of good in demand singles to fill hard to fill spaces along with lots of more recent stuff. Some where in the area of thousands of stamps each one shown. It is a major undertaking but will lessen my stamp holding I will never need or use and augment another's who wishes to get involved on Listia for a nominal amount of investment capital. Mike has an idea of what I am talking about as he has already acquired some. Anyway I think I'll pad my bid here just in case I don't make it back before auction's end.

Oh...I see, said the blind man! That type of auction is almost priceless to someone just getting started. When I first got started and bought a large lot...it was usually between 1000 and 10,000 at a pop.....it was Christmas every day. God, I had FUN with that. As time passes and you tend to get more serious about it, it loses some of the fun.....but not all! I vowed early on that I would never take it TOO seriously! I just really admire the history and artwork behind most every stamp.....even the ones that have "political messages". BTW....if there's anything in this world that I truly hate....it's politics and the dimwit politicians! Oooops....gotta watch it! If I get on my soapbox............................! Anyway, whoever wins the lots that you list will be a mighty happy camper! Glad to see you doing that. Good for you!!!
