Description

The listing, Old Hand Carved/Hand Painted Brass Floral Ashtray From India has ended.

This one is sort of cool, I guess.

I purchased this old hand carved/hand painted India ashtray at a small antique shop on State Rd in Wadsworth, OH for around $20 around 20 years ago. Back then, I had "The Nasty Habit," and this struck me as a 'noble' piece. Since I have long kicked the habit out of my life - I might as well get rid of my old favorite ashtray as well!

Not sure why I've kept it in a box all these years. It is quite nifty and all, but I am not exactly what you would classify as a 'collector' of this sort of thing. Just one of those things that I happen to have but no longer have any sort of attachment to: Which makes it perfect fodder for Listia!

I'm not sure of the exact age, but it was already old when I got it. The closest thing I could find online was eBay item 120929156469, which appears to be of the same or similar style. This one is just a little larger at slightly under 4" wide, and about 2-1/2" tall - and I think I like it a little better (but that could just be bias!) It is clearly brass and weighs in at around 9 ounces on my non-digital Weight Watchers scale (I KNEW that thing would come in handy some day, lol!)

Let's see...Listia Verified Addresses only, please. I do not bend or violate Listia Rules - so all do apply in all of my listings. All photos of my items are always actual photos of the items I am offering in the listings. All my items are always available for local pickup. There is no GIN on this one (because I wouldn't have a clue where to set it), and the listing will run a full 8 days (so it falls right in line with my shipping schedule for next week!)

Please do not hesitate to post any questions, concerns or comments in the comments section and I will respond appropriately as soon as I see them.

Thanks for dropping by! Have Fun, and Good Luck in all your Listian endeavors!

Hi, very cool! I saw your comments on the 'fraudulent' 24k ring (hahhahaaa), which of course, I reported. It was the same ring on CL. Glad you spoke up. I do love your ashtray, Kate :)

Lol - I do think if they are going to try to prey on honest people they should at least better familiarize themselves with what they are pretending to offer.

And thank you again!

Well seems like some people have too much time on there hands and do not know how to act in public to boot. Not worth getting upset over their ignorance or lack of up bringing, my only advice would be to be careful; for karma can have a nasty way of coming back and biting ya in the rear. Congrats on your new badges mojobadge I'm sure you earned them justly or at least sounds like it! Lol

Thank You, Bwolfmomma.

And you are so right: Karma never knows your name - but it always knows who you are, and where you can be found!

Hi, what I don't understand is WHY do they do it? I just cannot fathom what the reason could possibly be...but, that's a good thing! Hhahahaa K :)

I am completely with you on THAT one!

I guess if they can delay the buyer for 10 days to get the credits, they can spend them real fast and disappear. Seems to me like an awful lot of work for such a small payday!

I've seen a few high ticket items listed recently by new members stipulating that the buyer must release the credits as soon as they are provided a Tracking Number by the seller... (!!)

I have more than plenty of credits, not to worry! lol But I have to say I can't say no to a nice purse, one of my greatest fetishes!! I'll be keeping an eye out for them that's for sure!

First one will be an authentic Steve Madden going up tomorrow. (It's VERY red and chrome!) Mother made a big deal out of it, so we are going to start there!

Mojobadge tell the kids to get ready, 1 more day and mad credits coming your way! Did you receive my reply about the purses? Hope all is well, please tell wifey Hi for me. And will be ordering the magnets at the beginning of the month, thank you so much again for that info!

Lol - they've been going NUTS buying stuff! (Listia is TOO addictive!)

I sure did get your reply and am going to do exactly what you told me (Thank You, TOO - I was completely clueless!) I was being patient with a reply because I knew you had a plate full when you sent it, and I knew you would surface again eventually!

Going to be listing lots of PURSES this week, Lol (including many that you haven't seen yet!) - so don't get too crazy and blow all your credits on this darn ashtray!

Great Listing! I have a sister living in Carrabelle Florida! I like these type of items, very unique~ watching/fanned

I've been to Carrabelle several times. It's up in the Panhandle, and one of the coolest things there is the world's smallest police station! It is basically just a phone booth - but there are a lot of really neat stories behind it!

It is a popular name but a strong one too! It may be an astray but it's a very nice piece too! Call me crazy but I seem to find beauty in the oddest places and things, I'm a lot like my father was and am always seeing and thinking outside the box and I absolutely love the colors! My father always use to tell me that one mans trash is another mans treasure and I truly believe it; beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder!

I couldn't agree more! (Besides, I'm used to the name, Lol.)

When I look at this ashtray NOW, my common sense replies "For what...?" I don't smoke anymore. I don't collect. (Well, I DO collect - but not THIS sort of thing, Lol!) But I can still remember when and where I found it (and even where it was in the store), and I can still remember that I simply HAD to have it at the time. It was a fantastically unique little treasure, and I was quite fond of it for roughly 12 years after acquiring it. I got lucky and quit about 8 years ago - yet stored it away all the same (because it was still a treasure at the time!)

Now it's basically just a very nice piece, as you stated, and is going to do far more good in being let go than it is ever going to do sitting in the bottom of a box in my closet.

Your Father was a very wise man.

love the auction, it is beautiful. I am no longer a smoker- but I recently began collecting brass. After picking up some being interesting pieces for my father-n-law. I have to say what really caught my eye & made me have to comment (& will be fanning you after this post)- is your screen picture. The kitty is so darn cute!!! So yes, count me in too as fanned & watching.

Lol - Thank You. I Fanned You right back!

I have used the kitty as my avatar on eBay for years, and no one has ever said a word about it there. That's one of the things I really enjoy about Listia - they allow people to conduct their own listings and don't frown on small talk. Great site, great people. Makes it difficult to wake up and have to decide if I want to spend the day making a few dollars in the hallowed halls of eBay or just hang out in the open air of Listia....

Lol, I can see where she's coming from, beside you didn't know I was a smoker. It was kinda freaky though when you left your name on the auction, it just happens to be my husbands name and of my brothers and my 2 brother-n-laws as well!! lol But i'll just make sure I have plenty of credits to win this as well! I'm already listing new ones!
Jun 19th, 2012 at 2:49:31 PM PDT by

....And my Father, and my Son, and my Nephew, and my Brother In Law, Lol!

It's a well-used name!

This one should be pretty easy to win. It's just an old ashtray, Lol.

I am quite honored to have you involved in the listing. I read in one of your listings that you, too, have arthritic issues, and I will be emailing you later tonight (after my horde retires for the evening!) to share an unorthodox but strikingly effective little therapy that I have used to help manage mine.

Now again a very nice piece and unfortunately I do still smoke, tried to quit many times but guess I'm just not ready yet. I'm very happy to start off this bid for ya! Hope I don't start to bug ya but I believe we have the same taste in these items, so I'll be biding on this as well!
Jun 19th, 2012 at 7:19:15 AM PDT by

Lol - Hello, My Friend! GREAT to see you here!!

Had I known that you smoked, I would never have listed this. When I dug it out, I was actually looking for a 'secret bonus' to add to a recent cream and sugar set listing...I said to my wife "This would be a pretty cool secret bonus for something like this, wouldn't it...?" and she said "Oh, sure: Just send along an old, nasty ashtray with a dainty little creamer set - that ought'a make someone reeeeeal happy!"

Darn it!
