It is about an American businessman who travels to Romania after the Ceausescus have been executed. He is with a group of international experts who have been invited by the transitional government as part of their effort to attract new business to the struggling country. While there, the businessman, a doctor, and a priest meet an American hematologist who has adopted a young Romanian boy. As it turns out, the boy suffers from several rare diseases and is only able to survive by extracting and processing DNA from blood transfusions. Unfortunately, he is a descendant of Vlad Dracula, who intends to have the boy for his own use.
