The listing, 2 antique button hooks - 1 w/ advertising has ended.
For my younger Listia friends, these button hooks were an absolute necessity back when high button shoes were the rage. You slipped the hook through the hole, and pulled the lace through. They were used mainly from the 1880s to the 1930s, for shoes and gloves.
They often were given out by shoe stores -- with advertising on them.
I don't know the age of these hooks, probably the teens or 20s. The long one is about 5" and very tarnished. I'm sure it can be cleaned up, but I hate changing anything that's authentically old (even the dirt and tarnish!).
The bigger one says "Home Trade Shoe Store - 219-222 Nicollet Ave." I did a little research and the store probably was in Minneapolis.
