The worms are readily supplied by his opponent, whose motto seems to be the bigger and juicier, the better! At first, Billy's problem is simply weather or not he can manage to swallow the worm that is placed ceremoniously before him despite the free choice of condiments, from penut butter to horseradish. but later, it begins to look like Billy will win, and the challenge becomes weather or not Billy can get the worm in order to eat it. Billy's family, after cheacking with the doctor, takes everything in stride and even helps Billy through the gastronomic ordeal that twists and turns with each new day, leaving the outcome of the bet continually in doubt.
