yes if they were not lined the babies feet would sweat like heck they should be lined with a light weight material like linen or cotton like sheets are made from old pillow cases work great too! Or felt for winter booties I have a similar pattern for a coin purse with these Ramen bags very fun to make~!

I usually line them with fleece or felt since those don't frey when you cut them. You can totally machine stitch these though if you wanted to use cotton or flannel. :)

Depends on what materials you use. :)
The pattern shows how to make them lined but you can make them unlined as well.
