This is a garnet and silver butterfly pendant/charm I bought from JcPenney a few years ago. There is no chain included, just the charm.

Is this sterling silver or silver plated or just a silver color that the garnets are set in?

I honestly have no idea. When I bought it, the sales lady told me it was sterling silver, and there's a stamp on the back but I can't tell what it says.

jc penney is good, if the lady told you it was it is, and if there is a stamp on the back they don't stamp jewelry that's not real except some silver plated.
