I thought the same thing when I picked it up. It's really a fine example of the stamp altho' I never took the time to acquire the publications that would provide an adequate comparison of the types. I couldn't do it today anyway. Thanks for commenting. Good luck.
The only problem with that is that the 529 is perforated and this is imperf. But still, it could be a number other than my choices. Like I have indicated I no longer (yes I did at one time) have the books necessary to accurately define these stamps. Now I just rely on a rule of thumb and tend to assume that in all cases the stamp is of a lower value. That way I can't misrepresent unfairly any stamp. Thanks.
I know what you mean. With flat plate and rotary press, double, single snf no watermark, perf variations and then to top it off Types 1, 2, 3 etc. If you have a mint stamp its all a doable proposition. Still not easy but at least within the realm of a reasonable possibility. But used stamps? The cancels and watermarks and types all get obliterated.Thanks for the comment.
