There are a lot of scams out there. But mystery shopping itself is not a scam. It just doesn't pay too well...unless you use the strategies in this guide, lol.

I saw that it said the winner gets "Account at a private, paid member's only website"...does that mean we have to pay to access the acount?

No. It means others pay to access the website. It means that this item is not available for free anywhere online.

Does this book auctually give you everything you need to get started? Is there any other cost before becomming a shopper?

There are no costs to becoming a shopper other than having access to a computer/printer, some cases a fax machine, and a vehicle. I guess you could say you'd need gas in the vehicle. But no, you won't need to pay any person any money to become a mystery shopper. Most shops, nationwide, pay 7-10 bucks each. This book goes over lowering expenses and maximizing bonuses/profits to make mystery shopping financially worth it.
