The listing, 3.5" - 9-in-1 Internal Media Card Reader has ended.

This originally came from an HP machine before I had it in my PC. It is a 9-in-1 Internal Media Card Reader. It fits in a slot the same size as the old 3.5" floppy drives. This awesome little device gives you instant access to data from your various media cards without having to hunt down the correct adapter to transfer your files.
It reads SmartMedia/xD, CompactFlash I/II, MMC/SD, MS/MS PRO, and USB 2.0.
This is a very handy little device to have if you do not have media readers already installed in your desktop computer.

It doesn't require any software. Just plug it in (comes with cable). I originally pulled this from a HP desktop and put it in my custom built gaming machine, which was running Vista as well. I just always liked having the card reader available.
And for the second part, yes. It will work in any desktop as long as you have the 3.5" bay and plug on the motherboard to attach it to. I know for sure it works with Windows XP & Vista. I am attaching a couple more pics and a little more explanation.

just the older machines they couldnt do that and i always worked with xp pro so hopefully i get it thanks so much

Yes I agree, it is a very handy device to have. I have retired the gaming desktop and replaced it with a laptop which has its own built in card reader. It is of no use to me any more without a desktop computer.
