This is a GENUINE $100 note issued by the Confederate States of America in early 1864. The note you see in the upper left of the plastic archival holder ("CS-65") is it's FRIEDBERG NUMBER, a way of cataloging the wide range of paper currency issued by the US [See the book, "Paper Money of the United States", by Arthur & Ira Freidberg; it's one of the best reference books for US paper currency].
Overall, the note is in VERY GOOD to FINE condition. The damage is limited to the left edge, so does not detract substantially from the value of the note. The signatures are clear and easy to read.
The reverse is somewhat faded, raising concerns this might be a counterfeit note. I'm confident it's authentic. However, should a professional grading company determine it's a counterfeit, it's worth AS MUCH, if not more, than GENUINE notes! Collectors often own counterfeit specimens to show others the skill required to make such notes!
A CS-65 note in VERY GOOD TO FINE condition has a book value of about $40-60; market values may be higher! Expect a final bid amount in the 2000 range. I'll give you 10 days to save up your credits!
