The listing, Vintage US Currency! Series 1935E $1 Silver Certificate has ended.
An Act of Congress dated February 28, 1878 directed the Department of the Treasury to issue Silver Certificates which could be exchanged for silver dollars.
On March 25, 1964, the Secretary of the Treasury announced that Silver Certificates would no longer be redeemable for silver dollars. Even though silver certificates are no longer printed, those still in circulation are perfectly legal and can be spent like any other money!
You can probably have some fun messing with the cashier at McDonald's by trying to pay with this note! They'll probably call the cops to report someone trying to pass counterfeit notes (but who would go to the trouble of counterfeiting $1 bills?).
WHAT'S IT WORTH?
This note is in GOOD to VERY GOOD condition. While circulated, it shows only light creasing and soiling - the scanner makes the reverse look worse than it actually is. Both sides are reasonably centered, and the edges and corners are intact. Fair market value is likely $10-$20.
