Born in 1959 in Chicago, Illinois, Eddie Johnson joined the National Basketball Association in 1981 when he was selected by the Kansas City Kings in the 1981 NBA Draft. Known and revered for his talent for sinking shots from outside the 3-point line, Johnson also played for the Phoenix Suns, the Seattle Super Sonics, the Charlotte Hornets, the Olympiacos BC (in the Greek League), the Indiana Pacers, and the Houston Rockets. In 1989 Johnson received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award, the award given to the Most Valuable Player "coming off the bench" (as a substitute). Johnson retired from playing professional baseball in 1999 and turned to a career in broadcasting and sports commentary.
