idk the metal.. the rose is purple. and i also dont know about what kind of markings you might be talking about but it has a twist to lock the necklaces in the back my grandma sad she had it for a long time. i just never used it so i thought some one else can use it

She is talking about marking's on the back that say sterling or the maker. For instance, Avon. ;)
