No, it does to require a data plan, I thought that was really nice because my daughter used one and it didn't cost us an arm and leg.

It uses a SIM, but does not come with one, you will have to get your own.

I'm sorry it has taken so long to get back with everyone, my daughter came into town from out of state unexpectedly and we had a family get together, not to mention having 6 children here at ome keeps me pretty busy. Also, trying to do some canning from the garden along with the normal household chores, blah,blah,blah....

Phone does not have a keyboard, it's touch screen. Meaning when you start a text a touch screen keyboard comes up. It has a pull out antenna, and a great camera! I had a red verison of this phone and I LOVED IT!!! I wish I had the extra 48 credits to big on it. Its a very good phone, I'm not the seller, and do not know the seller, but I'm letting you guys know, this is a great phone! It's worth the credits I promise!

I really don't know, I think that you can use any AT&T phone if you own it and get a plan or use a prepaid plan, you could call their customer service and find out.
