The listing, iPod 4th Generation 4GB CLONE - Stuck In Firmware Mode! has ended.
Running behind schedule on EVERY-thing these past few days, but wanted to get SOME-thing posted.
This is a 4th Generation iPod 4GB CLONE that my wife purchased new at the Daytona Flea Market a few years ago for $45. It was a surprisingly good knockoff - but she ended up forgetting about it in her purse for a few months and when I went to turn it on, well - the photos show what I got / get.
I did some research and found that this thing is stuck in firmware mode and has to be re-flashed to function properly again. The process is:
1.) Take the player apart and find out what processor chip is inside. Put the player back together.
2.) Download the free flashing software.
3.) Unplug ALL OTHER USB devices from the host computer.
4.) Plug in the player to a USB port.
5.) Run the flashing software, choose the proper chip - and hit the flash button.
6.) Reboot the player - and, if done correctly, all should be well.
Whatever. This does not seem fun at all to me, and, frankly, not worth my time as my entire system is USB based and I am not going to go through all that trouble to revive an MP3/MP4 player - so I am simply giving it away.
It uses a standard iPod charging cable. (Not included.) There were matching ear buds with it - will try to hunt them out - but as I recall there was some issue that kept her from using them...? Not sure. Will update.
