actually it is to pierce and it feels like getting your ears pierced except I had a lot of issues with my hair caught in it and snagging my brush on it but it looks good on people I just couldnt keep it :(

I have them it doesn't hurt that much. You have to take good care of them though because

cartilage is more sensitive then your earlobe. I had a lot of problems with mine when they first pierced mine, they put a hoop in and it got a keloid from hitting the ring too much ( my skin is prone to them). Definitely recommend getting a stud and getting it done professionally. I love them as well they look nice. I haven't had any problem with my hair or brush though. Suck when you have to get rid of them though because they cost like $30 a cartilage piercing. Ugh! :)

So, I could use these to pierce my cartilege then put in something else, when it finally goes through? Sorry so many questions, but am a novice to these. I like the look though, want to use a diamond or birthstone in mine.

traditionally this is used in a piercing gun. you can pick one up at your local kmart or walmart for a decent price. but you could just jam it threw i suppose. you are most deffinatly not going to want to pierce it with that and then take it out. a piercing is puncture wound it immediatley swells. you'd want to leave it in for at least a week or a few weeks until the piercing has not crusties and you can turn it freely without hurting. sea salt will help with healing.
