the one on the left had been dropped and not fired. the one on the right has been fired.

my friends husband dug this up on the lakota ranch in culpeppper va which is west of the quantico marine base

history:
the battle of culpeper court house
sept 13, 1863 near culpeper virginia between the cavalry of the union army of northern virginia. the union victory opened up the culpeper region to federal control, a prelude to the subsequent bristoe campaign.
