Hi grammy57, I am an Avon Representative; that is why I have this watch. It is brand new with the box. It does not need a battery. It is running as we speak. It is a new item for Avon. The extension is on the watch in the photo. Without it it measures 7.25 inches and the extension gives you 3/4 inch more length. It is a standard watch band size. Thanks for looking. Linda Lin
