Questions & Comments
Can you give some history as to where they came from, like state and town, war
our metal detecting friend who owns a whites detecting store down in long island has some of our civil war relics displayed in his window. we dont give out our secret digging spots, sorry.this is the 3rd bullett auction i had,and it seemed to go great so thats why i posted more.we gave frank bulletts and a belt buckle.
once upon a time, there were 2 metal detectorists named john and tammy, one day they hiked up a long trail in the woods and were going along and tammys detector beeped! so she dug,and found and old coin! then further up,another beep...a civil war relic!they went further and further into the woods where there were giant rocks and trees, the detectors went nuts! so beep after beep, they dug 100 bulletts that day! they decided to bring them to their good christian buddy frank, down in long island,as he was an expert in this sort of stuff,so lo and behold! he said they were genuine! john and tammy gave him a few as he had never found any in his lifetime of detecting,he was so happy,he displayed them.john also gave him a us belt buckle he had found, this made him filled with joy! they vowed to go back to that very spot someday soon, and they did! this time they found 44........to be continued...................(true story) :-)
i'll give you a hint.......it could be georgia, kentucky, nyc, fla.nc,sc,the mountains where indians once ran free,or the bottom of the ocean! which reminds me, we are selling our underwater detector, my dearest gets earraches from diving. more later..........i'll keep ya posted! :-) god bless!
these are post civil war bullets! mass produced manufactured muzzle loading... you've got a couple "civil war" 3 ringers in there though. One of them you've cleaned the lime off of though. Thats the "white" stuff on the bullet, Lime. it only takes about 10 years for it to start developing though... Check out McKee and Masons book on Civil War projectiles* its appendix shows more modern confused/mis-identified bullets. (yours actually) such as what your labeling as civil war bullet is closer to 1900 maybe a decade or so prior but not civil war. I live in TN, and am a relic hunter. believe me I've got bucketfuls of civil war 3 ringers from 17 years of metal detecting and none are like yours. and all found on battlefields and campsites at headquarters areas.. sorry to burst ytour bubble
