Yes, it is compatible with iPhone 3 gen for AT&T, my husband has iPhone 3 Gen and we have tested it. It works fine.

My iPhone is 3G capable but this beats having to pay a contract for a year or 2.also an important question can this turn my iPhone into a pay as you go phone if someone still owes money to at&t.

As far as i know you can use any AT&T phone with this cards, I have no idea what is AT&T's policy about the unpaid bills but since H2O is somehow connected with AT&T I think there should be no problem.
