FYI - I had a similar problem with my Sansa; I could not use it on my new WindowXP netbook (though it worked with my old computer) until I installed the Sansa software from their website.

Apparently there is a driver buried in their software.

They stay on but there a bit goofy, just do what Neil said and download the drivers the creative micro's Firmware might need to be updated that might fix the problem
