The listing, GLASS CROSS WITH 12K GF CHAIN - LOVELY! has ended.

Really very lovely glass cross necklace with etched sides and about 1/4 inch thick in the center. I tried to show the transparency against the curtain but I think all you can see is the curtain...lol. The condition is excellent, I believe it to be vintage but hardly worn. The chain is marked 12K GF and something else I can't read. The entire length of the necklace with the pendant included is 22 inches. There is a nice weight to the cross, too, and I think you will enjoy it. Carefully wrapped and shipped for free in a padded envelope first class.

are you sure thats not a gp? that would be gold plated, iv'e never heard of a gf and i know my jewelry well.

Hi. Yes, this necklace is gold filled. The difference between gold plated and gold filled is this: Gold-filling jewelry is jewelry containing pure gold equal to 1/20th of its entire weight. Gold is often mixed with copper or brass. Gold-plated jewelry also combines gold with copper, brass or other base metals, however, only a very tiny amount of gold is used. The gold or gold-colored metal used in gold-plated jewelry equals seven-millionths of an inch.

In my experience, gold plated jewelry is rarely marked and it is left up to the buyer to discern what exactly was used to make the gold color. Gold filled or rolled gold has been used for many many years to make fine jewelry but not as fine as full karat weight, for instance 10K or 14K, but typically lasts as long and looks as good as regular karated jewelry, and typically will not wear off as gold plated jewelry does.
