The listing, Genuine Sapphire & Diamond Earrings, Set in Sterling Silver & Yellow Gold has ended.

I could seem to get a good picture of these - they were shiny enough that using the flash caused them to devolve into little sparkly reflections. Anyway, these earrings are genuine sapphire with real diamonds. The strip down the middle in which the stones are set is sterling silver & the sides of the earrings are yellow gold. I know the stones look black & white in the photos, but in the light, they reflect dark blue.

Questions & Comments

Are you sure they are real diamonds? Are they stamped at all? I know my jeweler was looking at some things for me, and he said real diamonds are never set in sterling silver.

The earrings are stamped 925 - I can look for another stamp if you can tell me what to look for. The diamonds are fairly small (smaller than the sapphires, but surrounded in silver to even them out). Large diamonds like you'd find on an engagement ring aren't usually set in sterling, but small/accent diamonds are quite often. Go to overstock.com & search "diamond sterling silver" to see what I mean.

Try using NO flash with small items like this ... the flash usually kind screws up the colors and creates too much glare. I use a little desk lamp that I can move around to capture the light and shadow of various items. Also, take the photos from far enough away that they are in focus then crop them in with photo software. Works great for these small Listia photos!

Yeah, that's more or less what I ended up doing for these pics, only without the direct light source. Maybe I'll try that next time, along with a tripod to combat my shaky hand-itis. :)
