The listing, old bad condition quarter from ground zero has ended.

So look here is the deal. After the events of 9/11 I went down to ground zero to help anyway i could. I brought coffee and soup, etc. About a block from the site I saw this really badly disfigured coin. Its a US quarter. I used to think it was sort of cool in a morbid way, but now I feel rather lousy to be perfectly honest. Its no doubt a quarter that belonged to a poor soul who, more than likely did not survive that day. Its nothing special, just a quarter. Its in rough shape, but if you want it, its free to any Listian. Living in NYC, you get a lot of cool stuff, autographs, the Conan Obrien quarters I previously auction, and then some not so cool things.

yeah i lived there till 2007, moved to OKC, now in PA. Been around but bulk of my life was in NY, Brooklyn.

Ive tried scrubbing it and cleaning it. Used alcohol, Simply Green etc. Its still pretty rough shape. Dont think it is toxic or anything, never got it tested. But I mean ive owned it 18 years and im fine. So........

Quick poll and I would appreciate some opinions and responses. Is selling this in bad taste? I dont know im kind of torn. Like I said at first i thought it was an interesting bit of history, But considering the tragedy its attached to, i dont know. Thoughts?

I mean, it's just an old quarter. it's worth 25 cents. Trying to bring 9/11 into this is in bad taste.

mmm not so much " bringing it in." Was explaining the back story on it. I mean, if you bought a house from a celebrity, and oh look Tom Cruise dropped a quarter in his kitchen. Is it still just a quarter, or does it have an interesting back story? 9/11 was a tragedy, and this quarter is a part of that day. Not all stories are happy ones. Not trying to exploit, I lost a cousin who was a fireman that day. Thats how I feel about it, bid or dont bid.
