The listing, Pink Rose x 6 seeds has ended.
As a symbol of grace and elegance, the pink rose is often given as an expression of admiration. They can convey appreciation as well as joy. They have a history of being one of the longest existing roses known to us. They were the dominant species among wild roses and were among the earliest roses to evolve.
Growing roses from seed is not the fastest method of propagation, but it is surely a lesson in patience since your success rate can be small. This is why I send 6 seeds. It may take several years to reap your rewards. It takes at least 3 years for a seedling to reach maturity, developing into a big bush.
To stratify your seeds, you are mimicing winter conditions which will improve germination. To stratify your seeds, place them in a jar of moist sand. Put in refrigerator til early spring. I put a layer of sand, a layer of seeds, sand, seeds and so on til the jar is full.
Place the seeds about 1/2" deep in a light mixture of 50% sterile potting soil and 50% virmiculite. Use small pots or shallow trays that have good drainage. Lightly dust the seeds with Rootone before covering with soil. Then dust the top of the soil again, which will help to prevent damp-off.(a disease which kills young seedlings) Water the planted seeds well and place them outside in direct sunlight. (NO NEED FOR GROW LIGHTS) If there is still danger of frost, place the seed trays in a protected location, such as under a tree or patio. Keep the the seed trays watered and don't let them dry out. After about 6 weeks, or when the weather starts to warm up, the seedlings will start to sprout. They will continue to sprout as long as the weather is cool, but will stop sprouting when it gets too hot.
When the seedlings are a few inches tall, transplant carefully into their own pots or transplant into perminate place when they have outgrown their pot.
