it has to be a hair straightener. It has a kind of adhesive on the back of the crystals that kinda 'glue' to the hair. And it has to be applied using a straightener. You just wash them out, they dont damage your hair or anything.

once you wash them out of your hair they loose the stickyness. but you could glue them to something else.
