It makes a little round pouch, when you break it open it is filled with seeds - they are round, flat and black. They "stand" in the pouch, accordian style, going around in a circle

I live in zone 5, I am not sure about the others. It can grow as tall as 5 feet as the garden ages. I have a few that get to 5 feet, most stay around 3 feet.

Lots of medicinal uses. I sure didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I just bought some black hollyhock, and sure do look forward to spring time.

Just remember these are biannual, they will bloom every other year! It takes about 3 years to get enough plants to get blooms every year. I haven't gotten any black ones yet, I want to get some of those to go with the white ones I have and some purple ones to stand out against the pink ones! That would be a knock out garden
