From what I can gather, there are options you can choose for the sound you wish the.alarm to make when it goes off....hope this helps.

F&W Do I need any other item/unit, besides batteries, for this to work? Also is this for interior only? Or can I place this outside for my back deck?

This requires nothing but batteries to operate...has a 12 ft. range with 100% detection zone. It is new and these instructions I'm reading from the outside of packaging. It does have a limited lifetime warranty and it is a Brinks alarm which is a very well known name in the security industry.I would think it could be placed anywhere, but just don't know about rain..sorry.
