These were issued in several Ohio cities in exchange for work. I've seen pix of similar tokens with values from 1 to 100, so you might try collecting a full set!

Very similar to 19th- and 20th-century coal mines, where the miners were paid in scrip that could be exchanged ONLY in the company store. The store items were over-priced, so many miners soon found themselves deeply in dept to the mining company. I suspect business bought these tokens from the Kadamenos Bros. at a discount. The restaurants would then charge higher prices for the use of tokens, meaning a person was effectively paid less for their work than paying someone in real money. But that's how things happened during the Depression, and people put up with it as they were simply glad to have a job and food on the table!
