The listing, Rio Receiver - Opened, but unused. has ended.
The Rio Receiver was one of the first networked audio solutions way back in 2000; playing audio files off your computer.
It was arguably quite ahead of its time - linux based, featuring a 10W amplifier, 24bit audio, remote control and LCD display.
Today it is a linux-hackable device including several replacement firmwares and server-side software options. The most interesting of which (IMHO) is a ghetto SLIMP3 (a.k.a. Squeezebox, check out http://bit.ly/7ap3ww) though there are quite a few others - check out the Rio_Receiver page in wikipedia.
Up for auction is the second edition from late 2002. I bought it as an embedded linux box - but never got around to even powering it up.
This was the first time that I powered it up, just to check it would start before listing it. I only witnessed the Rio boot loader and then powered it off. I've not tried any of the software or hooking up speakers.
I'm offering free shipping in the US only.
