The listing, MYSTERIOUS Newport Tower in RI Antique Plate has ended.
The Newport Tower in Newport, RI is one of the most mysterious places in New England. No one knows who built the tower or when--the local Indians say it was here before the original settlers arrive and some think it may have been built by traveling Knights Templar in the 14th or 15th century.
As you can see, they call the Newport Tower on the plate the Old Stone Mill, as that is one theory as to what this structure was originally used for. But others think it was used as a lookout tower by ancient European mariners.
Enjoy this fascinating mystery with this rare antique collector's 6.5-inch plate. Made in England by John Kazmanjian, it is in very good condition. (Actually, it is a cross between a bowl and a plate in shape). I am not sure of the age but believe it is between 50-100 years old.
