Yeah, Craigslist is mostly for furniture. I put some of my higher-end jewelry on there this week REALLY cheap, but at least I'd get a little money for it, but haven't had any nibbles. I sold maybe three things on Etsy, which is very cheap to use, and nothing has sold on Bonanzle, but I haven't tried jewelry on those site. The problem with having your own web site is that you have to drive traffic to it somehow.

I stopped selling on ebay when we moved two years ago. I was very burned out, and ebay had changed so many rules about contacting people and feedback that I was really discouraged. I've been selling stuff on craigslist, but ebay was like a real job, I worked many hours a week and usually made at least a few thousand a month. I'm not sure about Listia, but so far it's fun! I have a lot of stuff to get rid of, but I can't give away some of the more valuable antiques and other things I would have put on ebay.

I wish there was something better than ebay. I have tried craigslist and never get much attention. I found this as an avenue for my jewelry. It's just fun stuff, not worth anything but I feel good about sharing it with others. I have thought about ebay but it is such a hassle. Well, good luck on here. Maybe you can make your own website and sell stufff?

Shipping is something I definitely am not willing to give away. The items I'm giving away have a fair amount of value anyway. Shipping is pretty expensive now, a minimum of more than $2 for a tiny First Class package. I also don't want to ship carelessly, so I like to put everything in a box.

True, so why did you decide to switch from ebay to here?

I'm not sure how people can afford to ship for free. In my opinion, if I'm getting something of value for free, the shipping is a bargain. I also think a lot of people are giving free shipping but don't actually know what it will cost, or are trying to stuff things into envelopes that aren't going to get to their intended recipients.

I have shipped for free and packaged things well in paper envelopes. It has cost me around $1.39 for each one. It can be expensive but I also like to bless people. It helps that I get credits so I can get other stuff. So far the stuff I have bid on for free shipping has come in good shape. i am not bidding on anything to expensive, well up to now. I would say that if people like to give then free shipping is a nice thing to do.

I've got more jewelry to put on Listia but got pretty burned out last weekend, taking photos etc. I'm also waiting to see if I get enough credits to make it worthwhile!

that is the thing, you have to pace yourself :) I am having a hard time getting credits when I charge shipping. so far I have done great on free shipping, just running out of money.

sometimes you have to charge because shipping is so high and when you mail alot. they should understand that. I combine shipping and that saves. if they want they will pay. i know free shipping is nice and if points go so high that is ok sometimes. good luck

true, I would combine shipping also. I just hate to see my bracelets going for one credit because I am charging shipping. Makes me think I should just not list them at all, until I have enough money to keep doing free shipping. I would not mind doing it if I had the money. Will have to think about it before I add any more jewelry.

Thanks, I hope I get more bids on these. I guess charging a little shipping is turning people off.
