Description
The listing, Lot of Three 1943 Steel Pennies has ended.
Genuine 1943 Steel Wheat Cents! With the shortage of copper during WWII, the US Mint tried using steel for one year. The coins have been cleaned to remove years of accumulated rust and dirt (there were no coins in BU condition, so cleaning isn't an issue).
You'll receive one coin from each of the three Mints: Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco! Mounted in paper coin flips to help preserve the coins (they WILL rust in high humidity, so store them in a cool, dry environment).
Yeah, they're somewhat rare. Obviously not TRULY collectible, as they've been cleaned to show the steel underneath. They were pretty dirty when I got them!
