Description

The listing, 1960 The American Woman 4 Cent US Commemorative Stamp Mint has ended.

The 4-cent stamp honoring the American woman was issued on June 2, 1960, through the Washington, DC, post office. It was issued to pay tribute to the American women and their accomplishments in civic affairs, education, arts and industry, as well as their vital role in the home by providing guidance, strength, support, and commitment to American youth. Designed by Robert Silvard, the stamp portrays a woman and a young girl surrounded by symbols representing these contributions.

The stamp was printed by the rotary process, electric-eye perforated and issued in panes of fifty stamps each. An initial printing of 120 million stamps was authorized.
