The listing, Spiral Goddess with Pentacle Necklace **Pagan/Wiccan** has ended.
Made of lead-free Tibetan silver, this 3/4" Goddess charm has a spiral design on both the front and back. The pentagram and the bail (featuring a Greek Key motif) are both Tibetan silver as well. The chain is silver-plated and is 20" long with a spring clasp.
The pentacle (or pentagram) is a very old symbol, dating back thousands of years. It has been used by many different cultures and religions over the millennia. It was even used by Christianity at one point to represent the 5 wounds of Christ.
In modern times it has been adopted by the Wiccan/Neo Pagan movement as a banner symbol (kind of like what the cross is to Christianity).
In this incarnation, the pentacle has come to represent 5 elements: earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. Spirit is at the apex above all. For this reason it is favored by Wiccans to use/have present in circle when calling the quarters.
This is just a quick overview, the history and uses of the 5-pointed star is long and varied and I encourage all that are interested to research it for themselves, as it is an interesting and worthwhile subject!
