I put the amount of seeds in the title of the listing. This auction is for 25 Seeds. You should start your seeds indoors 6-7 weeks before the last frost in your area. You can begin cutting leaves off the plant, about 6 weeks after transplanting.

Lemon Balm is considered a perennial. It should come back year after year...as long as the planting and care instructions are followed.

I don't have my sunset garden book anymore; what type of climate do zones 4-9 have? Where I live ( Santa Barbara, CA), the temperature is very mild. I forgot what zone this is... I know that lemon balm is used for making balm... is it edible?

Lemon balm is definately edible. It is also used in Teas; flavors soups, stew, fish, poultry, vegetables, and meat dishes; garnish; potpourris.

You can go to the Sunset Publishing Company site ( http://www.sunset.com/garden/climate-zones/climate-zone-central-california-00418000067179/ ) and for Santa Barbara CA on the map. It will show you which climate zone you are in. It will also give you the information that you need to decide which plants will grow best in your area. Zones 4-9 would be areas where the coldest temperatures during the winter would average between -25* and +30* F. You may also go to http://www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/hzm-sw1.html to get more general information. Hope this helps.
