It's for a regular Kindle reader. I bought the Kindle Fire and it doesn't work with that one.

I've posted a pic of it open. It has two connectors that slide into the side of a standard keyboard Kindle reader.

I had a kindle with a keyboard at the bottom that this cover worked with. If you check the left side of your kindle, there should be 2 slots about 1/4 in. long toward each end. The prongs on the cover slide into these and conduct power from your kindle to the light. That's all I know!
