The listing, 1961 COMMEMORATIVE SILVER COIN PROJECT MERCURY ALLAN SHEPARD has ended.

14.9 grams of .925 sterling silver
33 millimeters in diameter

commemorating the 1961 first manned united states space flight by astronaut allan b. shepard

front: red-stone rocket lifting off with flame jet and clouds of moon in background

back: moon below, orbiting mercury capsule with cutaway showing astronaut inside, earth in distance

allan shepard was pilot of the freedom seven mission, may, 1961 becoming the second person and first american to travel into space.
ten years later shepard would command apollo xiv and be the 5th man to walk on the moon

the mercury-red-stone launch vehicle was americas first manned space booster and a part of the red-stone ballistic missile series. it was used for 6 sub-orbital mercury flights

I checked this out online and saw one going for $85 and another for $95...but they did have the original packaging, still must be worth quite a bit.

would you believe this was originally won on listia! circle of life lol

yeah I have done some research if it was in the original packaging and was in mint condition they go for a lot
and because of the silver content they go for crazy asking prices
